Town Hall

Proud to be Pesticide Free

Newmarket is now pesticide free!

In keeping with the Town’s commitment to the environment, Newmarket passed a bylaw Imageprohibiting the cosmetic use of pesticides on private and public property. Newmarket is encouraging a more natural approach to caring for lawns and gardens which is good for your pets, good for your health and good for your community.

The pesticide use bylaw took effect on September 1, 2008. Throughout 2007/2008, the Town rolled out a comprehensive public education program to inform residents and businesses on the safe use of pesticides and alternative means of controlling pests.

Watch for Lucy the Ladybug who is Newmarket's official anti-pesticide expert. She will teach you how to maintain a beautiful, healthy pesticide free garden.
