The Towns action plan
Below you will find a list of highlights on how the Town responded to flooding in the Western Creek area as a result of the September 2006 storm:
- Retained R.V. Anderson Associates to review the Western Creek storm drainage system and identify potential improvements to increase flood protection in the area. An interim report was presented to Committe of the Whole on February 5, 2007, and a final report was expected by March 31, 2007;
- Requested a review the Town's overall drainage system. This will also include a review of the impact of changing weather conditions on municipal storm water management systems.
- Created a Western Creek Steering Committee comprised of staff, consulting engineers and Council to recommend a strategy for improving the Western Creek drainage systems as well as flood warning practices;
- Creating a plan to effectively manage smaller scale emergencies that would complement the Town's overall emergency plan.
