The Town of Newmarket is very excited to launch the 2012 Special Events Guide.
This Guide can help you find out about many diverse and exciting special events happening in our community. If your community group would like to promote your community special event, please contact our Special Events Unit at 905-895-5193.

Volunteers Needed for Events Cultural Master Plan (2.8 MB)

OUTDOOR DISCOVERY & ADVENTURE NIGHT (NEW)
Newmarket Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr., 6-7 p.m.
Tues. May 22    -Mad Science, Fire & Ice Show
Tues. June 26   -Children's Magic Show 
Join us for an evening of discovery and interactive fun. Bring a lawn chair.  Inclement weather location inside Newmarket Community Centre & Lions Hall. Free. 

MUSIC ON THE MOVE
Join us for an evening of entertainment.
Thurs. May 3, 6:30 p.m. Rogers Public School, 256 Rogers Rd.
Mon. May 7, 6:30 p.m. Stuart Scott Public School, 247 Lorne Ave.
Tues. May 8, 6:30 p.m. Maple Leaf Public School, 155 Longford Dr.
Wed. May 30, 4 p.m. Prince Charles Public School, 684 Srigley St.
All are welcome. Free.

SPRING MOONLIGHT MOVIE (NEW)
Newmarket Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr.
Outdoor movie on a huge inflatable screen, at dusk approx. 8:30 p.m. Movie TBA.  Bring a chair or blanket to enjoy a movie under the stars. Free.  Inclement weather location inside Newmarket Community Centre & Lions Hall.

Sat. June 2
REVITALIZE & RENEW HEALTH & WELLNESS EVENT
Fairy Lake Park, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Take part in various free outdoor interactive classes including: yoga, Zumba, meditation, Nordic pole walking, tai chi, pilates and more. Free seminars focus on back care, massage, reflexology, homeopathy, nutrition, acupuncture & fitness. Free family activities include disc golf, hula hoop activities, face painting and bouncy castles. Information booths offer free samples, giveaways, door prizes, healthy food, wellness advice and demonstrations. Free.

Sun. July 1
KANATA SUMMER FESTIVAL: CANADA DAY
-Pancake Breakfast, 8 a.m. to noon, $4, Hosted by Newmarket Car Club, Newmarket Community Centre & Lions Hall, 200 Doug Duncan Dr.
-Kanata Celebration, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fairy Lake Park, Water St. Fun for the whole family: inflatable bouncers, extreme bike demonstration and live entertainment. Free admission. Presented by the Town of Newmarket.
-Kanata Fireworks, dusk (10 p.m.), George Richardson Park, the Town of Newmarket is proud to present the annual Canada Day fireworks. Newmarket Citizens Band performs starting at 7:30 p.m., weather permitting. Free.

MUSIC IN THE PARK
Wednesday July 4, 11, 18, 25, Aug. 1, 8, 15, Fairy Lake Park, Water St. Sunday July 8, 15, 22, 29, Aug. 12, 19  Newmarket Riverwalk Commons, Doug Duncan Dr. 7 to 8:30 p.m. Join us Sunday and Wednesday evenings for a musical treat. Local entertainers will showcase their talents. Weather permitting (no rain dates). Free.

KIDS AROUND TOWN
Tuesdays July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 Newmarket Riverwalk Commons, Doug Duncan Dr. (inclement weather shows will be inside Newmarket Community Centre & Lions Hall) Aug. 7 & 14 Environmental Park, Woodspring Ave. Weather permitting (no rain dates in Aug.). 7 to 8 p.m. Join us for family entertainment. Bring a lawn chair. Check out the website for details of activities each week. Free.

AROUND THE WORLD MULTICULTURAL EVENT
Fairy Lake Park, Water St. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Outdoor live entertainment, food, music, dance, crafts, vendors and much more. Free admission.

GARLIC IS GREAT FESTIVAL
8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Newmarket Farmers' Market, Newmarket Riverwalk Commons and Doug Duncan Dr.  Cooking demonstrations, live entertainment & garlic vendors. Rain or shine. Free admission.
