• A Public Information Center Drop-in was held Tuesday, February 27th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Newmarket's Municipal Offices (395 Mulock Drive) inside the Council Chambers for the following parks. Please see the below proposed park improvements & designs.

    Beswick Park (Towercrest Dr. & Hodgson Dr.)

    Beswick Park improvements include:

    • New 911 park address signs to be installed
    • New playground structure to be installed
    • New swing sets
    • New park furniture
    • Playground surfacing to be changed to engineered wood fibre for accessibility needs
    • New trees will be planted in various areas throughout the park

    Environmental Park (Woodspring Ave. & Gilpin Dr.)

    Environmental Park improvements include:

    • New 911 park address signs
    • New playground structure to be installed to replace existing playground
    • New park furniture where needed
    • Existing gardens to be rejuvenated
    • Playground surfacing to be replenished with engineered wood fibre for accessibility needs

    George Richardson Park (South) (Bayview Pkwy)

    • George Richardson Park (South) improvements include:
    • New 911 park address signs
    • New playground structure and swing set to be installed to replace existing equipment
    • New park furniture, where needed
    • Playground surfacing to be replaced with engineered wood fibre for accessibility needs
    • Accessibility ramp to be installed from asphalt trail to playground surfacing
    • New trees will be planted in various areas throughout the park
    • Asphalt trail to swing set for accessibility needs

    Whipper Watson (near Clearmeadow Boulevard)

    Whipper Watson Park improvements include:

    • New playground structure to replace existing playground structure
    • Playground surfacing to be changed to engineered wood fibre for accessibility needs
    • Existing trails to be converted to asphalt 
    • Accessibility ramp to be installed from the asphalt trail to the playground surfacing
    • Installation of new park furniture around the playground, trails and ball diamond
    • Basketball area to be resurfaced 
    • Forestry work to be completed near parking lot/ Clearmeadow Blvd. to help with visual sightlines such as illegal dumping.

    Fairgrounds Park Batting Cage (Muriel St. / Pine St)

    Fairgrounds baseball batting cage to include:

    • Structure to be 22 metres long by 4.25 metres wide and  3.6 metres tall
    • Fencing materials to be chain-link on all sides including the top
    • Fencing poles to be located on the outside of the cage and chain-link on the inside
    • Artificial turf to be installed on ground inside the batting cage with lockable entrance door
