​To register for an ADU, the following steps must be done to complete the application process:

  1. For new units (must be constructed under the building permit process and the application submitted after the work has been completed):
    • Completed and signed application form
    • A sketch of the parking area with dimensions
    • Registration fee of $250
  1. Unregistered existing units:
  • Third party review report to confirm compliance
  • Completed and signed application form
  • A sketch of area with dimensions
  • A letter from the Electrical Safety Authority (dated within six months of submitting application) indicating compliance with safety requirements
  • A letter from Central York Fire Services (dated within six months of submitting the application) indicating compliance with the Fire Code
  • Registration fee of $250
     
  1. Units previously registered under 1998-109 and 2003-106
    • Completed and signed application form
    • Letter from Central York Fire Services (dated within six months of submitting the application) indicating compliance with the Fire Code
    • A letter from the Electrical Safety Authority (dated within six months of submitting the application) indicating compliance with safety requirements
    • Registration fee of $250

 

Please note that building permit fees or any other agency inspection fees are not included in the above and are payable by the applicant as required.
